The Blue House on Woodfields

Hello, I have been meaning to post a picture of our house with its nice paint job. I think you'll notice a big improvement if you look back to previous photos of when we bought the place. It now has a very nice fresh new look and certainly stands out on our street! When we first got it painted, we actually were surprised at just how bright it came out, but as we have gotten many (surprisingly) compliments from other people on the choice of color. We have come to appreciate how it brightens up the whole street. We can also now say, "We live in the blue house on Woodfields" as it's the only one and you certainly can't miss it! As you can see the weather is getting brighter, and hopefully will continue to do so, as it has been another long dreary winter as usual. We just changed the clocks last night, so we are now really moving into the springtime. Hope you like the house, and feel free to comment or come and stay with us if you are headed to the UK.

Life in Our House

I know its been a while, but life in our house has been a bit crazy!...to say the least. We have had a lot of things happening recently in our lives. One of the main things is that I am transferring to working in Bishop's Stortford (which is about 4 miles from home) which will make my commute almost nothing and hopefully reduce my stress at work. I have been able to do this because another staff member has left that post and relocated so I am filling in her vacancy and will be replaced by someone else. I am really looking forward to this, and it goes great with Tim's plan of working closer to home as well. We have been busy with church and making friends there and enjoyed getting to know a South African couple who are absolutely awesome! This is a picture of Tim and I in the kitchen. Our little house is doing well. Tim has finished the floor in the loft and we are working towards finishing it off completely so that we can put more stuff up there. Tim has made the back garden look really good and we are looking forward to a few more plants and a back gate to get put in. But, Tim has been very busy with work and hasn't had much time to do house stuff. We are looking forward to the April break that starts in another week. I am taking some time off too and we are going to Weymouth and Cornwall which should be lovely. Overall , we are doing ok and the sweet boys are doing well too.

Christmas at Underhill Cottage

We had my parents come to stay for their very first Christmas in England in 2009. I know it has been a very long time since then, but we have been busy, busy, busy with our crazy jobs mainly and with fixing up the house and getting involved with church stuff. I will tell more about church life later in another entry. For the moment, we should just say that We had a very nice time and my parents enjoyed staying in bunk beds in our spare room! We had a traditional Noche Buena (Cuban Christmas Eve) dinner followed by a traditional English Christmas day with church in the morning (I sang in the worship band) and then dinner complete with crackers, paper hats and family games! Tim's uncle, aunt and 2 cousins came for the dinner and stayed the night at the Webbs with Phil there too. We all had fun playing Buzz which was one of Tim's Christmas gifts. We also watched some traditional English football matches during which neither team actually scored, so we had to persuade my dad that the Brits are actually aware that they should try and score but that we just watched some pretty rubbish games in a row which was unfortunate. Elise, my only sister, sadly did not come for Christmas, and she was missed, but we did send some presents home and received some nice gifts handmade by Elise herself. We did also get some more visitors, my dad's sister and her husband who live in Chepstow (near Wales) came to stay one night and we had a nice pub dinner and taught them how to play Buzz too. My parents really enjoyed seeing us in our new home, our church and meeting our friends and family, and they enjoyed having a little mini Pajot family reunion too. Overall we had a nice Christmas, and now our house really feels like a home because my family have been here.
